Leaf Cup Plates Making Machine – CSIR – CFTRI Technology

Leaf Cup Plates Making Machine

I have seen this technology in the CSIR Technofest 2010, showcased by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, at India International Trade Fair during November 14-27, 2010 New Delhi, India. I came to know that “Leaf Cup Plates Making Machine” was developed by Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore,  under the aegis of CSIR, New Delhi

This machine helps to prepare stronger, elegant and uniform cups and plates of different sizes from leaves and paper at a rate much faster than the conventional method of leaf-cup making. In case of flimsy leaves, another layer of leaf, paper or polythene may be used for reinforcement the method is simple. No adhesives are needed.

Materials are usedPaper, Dried Banana leaves, Dried Bauhinia Vahili leaves (Hindi: Kachnar), Areca leaf sheath, Dried Butea Frondoza leaves (Hindi: Palash).

The machine consists of the following main parts: The body frame, upper die assembly, lower die assembly and base plate activator.

The dry leaves are washed and softened by soaking in water for 10 to 30 minutes. The time will be taken based on the type of leaves and their dryness and again dried until they become pliable. The correct point of dryness is reached when the leaf does not crack when folded to 180 degrees, across the grain. All parts of the leaf, more than 3 mm thick are cut off. The energy regulator is set to maintain the male die temperature at about 150 oC.

This is very simple operation and upper die will go into lower die assembly by press the pedal by foot.  After few seconds, pedal withdrawn to go real position of both dies and just cut the edges by trimming and take the pressed leaf cup plates.  It is germ free because of heat and it is uniform size due to die assembly.

An operator using this machine can produce 250 to 300 cups/dishes per hour from thin leaves or their combinations and about 100 cups/dishes from thicker material.  This can be used in rural sector for the rural peoples’ livelihood earnings.

Salient Features of this machine

Ladies can also operate this machine Machine is foot operated One person operates one machine Die can be heated by domestic current (220 volts) or By Kerosene oil blow lamp

Reasons for growing popularity of leaf cup plates are that these are Hygenic, Germs free, Leak proof, Elegant and low cost, Convenient & clean way of serving in parties and weddings and best for fast food restaurants and hawkers.

This machine kept for demonstration purpose in the exhibition how it is working and awareness to public.  This technology has already been transferred to AMI Engineering, Patna.

NaviNet Acquires Prematics, a Leading Provider of Mobile Clinical Messaging and E-prescribing

NaviNet is thrilled to announce that we’ve acquired Prematics, a leading provider of mobile care management solutions. This acquisition represents a significant step in NaviNet’s strategy to become the premier platform for unified patient information management (UPIM). Prematics’ innovative mobile clinical messaging and eprescribing technologies further enhance NaviNet’s clinical solution suite and extend NaviNet’s value beyond the desktop into the exam room.  Plus, we are particularly jazzed about the capabilities and benefits that will result from Prematics’ solutions being integrated with NaviNet Insurer Connect, our industry-leading multi-payer portal, and NaviNet EMR and NaviNet PM.

The integration of Prematics’ mobile healthcare messaging with NaviNet’s health plan and provider solutions and business processes will be an industry first that gives physicians unparalleled single-source access to real-time patient data at the point of care, by delivering clinical, administrative and financial information to handheld devices. The Prematics solution is the only one of its type to embed mobile healthcare messaging and best-of-breed clinical decision support into the e-prescribing workflow. As a result, when physicians are in the exam room prescribing medications via handheld device, they can also use the device to receive information about generic or alternative drugs; submit real-time authorizations; and adjudicate claims in real time to determine patient financial responsibility. same day payday loans can be the best solution if you still want to extend this strategy cause this strategy need large budget

Our goal is to equip physicians and healthcare professionals with access to key patient information – wherever they are located – to create efficiencies, improve quality and increase patient satisfaction. On the desktop, NaviNet has made great strides in integrating administrative and clinical solutions to enable health plans to leverage eligibility and benefits workflows to get timely clinical alerts to the physician office. With this acquisition, we will be bringing this same concept to the exam room — integrating and leveraging workflows to deliver timely information, driving even more efficiencies and better outcomes.

We will continue to serve the Prematics customer base of over 3600 prescribing physicians. Prematics mobile clinical messaging and e-prescribing solutions will be available to physicians and healthcare professionals in the NaviNet Network, for direct purchase from NaviNet and from health plans that choose to sponsor the technology. In 2011, the Prematics solutions will be integrated with NaviNet solutions.

We are excited to offer Prematics capabilities to NaviNet’s ever-expanding customer base, which includes hundreds of thousands of physicians, clinicians and healthcare professionals in the NaviNet Network and leading national, regional and Blue health plans. We believe the marriage of our two solutions will bring benefits to all healthcare stakeholders:

•    Physicians will have the key patient information they need, where and when they need it, in a way that aligns with their clinical and business priorities.

•    Health plans will be able to leverage these mobile communications to further improve quality of care, lower costs, and enhance provider and member relations.

•    Patients whose doctor’s offices use NaviNet solutions can expect more informed and transparent care from their physicians, and an improved and more efficient experience while in the doctor’s office and exam room.

•    NaviNet partners will benefit from the increased provider adoption and utilization that result when new services such as clinical messaging and e-prescribing are layered onto the NaviNet platform. Our partners will also have the opportunity to extend the reach of their solutions and their information beyond the desktop to the exam room.

NaviNet’s acquisition of Prematics aligns with our mission to become the industry’s most robust system for UPIM, which manages the full lifecycle of patient information including collecting, integrating, analyzing, sharing and reporting on data. We welcome healthcare technology vendors, health plans and physicians to join us in building an industry architecture that is patient-centric and unified.
